The cause of the sinkhole that swallowed part of the street at East 89th Street & York Ave last Thursday is still being investigated as the city continues to excavate around the area, the city's DEP said. Work is expected to last several more days.
The investigation into the cause of the sinkhole will continue into next week, the city’s DEP said. Crews have expanded the site to get a better look at the surrounding infrastructure to figure out what went wrong.
